Zygoma reduction in US.

Question

I'm a caucasian male of almost 24 years.  I have high, wide cheekbones and am very insecure about them (I've been made fun of for them, etc.) as they make my face look very weird.  I want to have zygoma reduction done and would like information about doctors here in the states that can do the procedure.  I heard there are doctors in Florida that can do it.  This would be good for me as I live on the east coast.  Also, what is the typical price and recovery time?Thanks in advance

Most plastic and facial plastic surgeons are not comfortable doing bony facial surgery, and so I'd recommend being careful who you seek opinions from.  Look for plastic surgeons with specific expertise and additional training in craniofacial surgery - these are board-certified plastic surgeons who frequently operate on the facial skeleton, and will be not only your best source of information, but will be the most qualified ones to perform the surgery.

Zygomatic reduction by osteotomies is a very specific and unique facial bone contouring procedure that is most commonly performed in Asians in my practice. It can, however, for the right zygomatic shape be performed in any ethnicity. It would be important to get a 3D CT scan to see the shape and with of your zygomatic bone and arches to see how much change could occur from moving them inward. Usually about 5mms per side inward is the typical amount of change.
