So, I'm almost 6 months post op. and my breast augmentation scars under the boob are still very visible, red and bumpy, like little lumps. What can I do with that, how can I heal them finally? I have Dermatix silicone gel, should I use that? Thanks!

Answer: Scars red and bumpy Thank you for posting your question. There are options to treat unfavourable scars other than just scar gel. However, you would first need a proper scar assessment to determine whether other treatments will help.

Answer: Breast augmentation and scar It will take up to 1 year for the scars to soften and become less red. In my practice, I have patients utilize silicone scar cream and I have them apply it twice daily for up to 1 year. Circular scar massage will also help flatten and soften the scar. As far as the raised scar is concerned, this will flatten with time. In some cases Kenalog injections or a scar revision may have to be considered after 1 year.Best wishes,Dr. Ravi Somayazula
