Can you get a Brazilian Butt Lift if you have body acne on back and butt?

I am currently being treated by my dermatologist with a second round of accutane for my face and body acne and although my body acne is much better it is not cleared up. Would I still be a candidate for a BBL if I have any active breakouts on my back and butt?

Hello, thank you for your question. A side effect of Accutane is skin sensitivity, which increases the risks of scarring with any trauma. I recommend waiting 12 months after stopping Accutane for any skin procedures.

it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Generally speaking, you should be healthy prior to surgery. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

Elective cosmetic surgery is contra indicated for patients on Accutane.

Without having to crack open my dermatology textbook I believe the recommendations it’s for patients to be off Accutane for 12 months before having elective surgical procedures.

The drug can severely interfere with the healing and scarring process.

You should talk to your dermatologist about the side effects of the drug you were taking.

I know you went through the I pledge because I’ll patients must.

Perhaps they did not discuss wound healing sufficiently.
