For upper lid blepharoplasty, I often use permanent suture that I remove one week later. It is a great choice because it causes less inflammation, redness, and bumps on the skin as it heals, compared to absorbable stitches. In my hands using very tiny instruments, it is rare that a patient feels hardly any discomfort when removing the stitches. I did have one patient recently that could have used an oral sedative 30 minutes prior, but unfortunately we did not know she would be so sensitive. If you are super nervous, or have a low pain threshold in general, ask your surgeon about prescribing something to calm you down, or to arrive early to apply a tiny amount of numbing cream. Holding a vibrating device to distract your brain may also help.
