Would this type of laser help tighten the bags under the eye or are these lasers only used to eliminate wrinkles? My bags are not really big but I do have shadows which I want to eliminate.

Answer: Eye bags External skin treatments can lead to excellent results when performed on the right candidate. Exploring the anatomy of the eye lid will help you make the correct decision. Eye bags are typically a symptom of the bulging fat from underneath the eye. To simplify, the retaining ligaments may have an opening, or have general weakening. Both causes can be related to age and/or genetics. External procedures (micro needling, lasers, peels, etc) focus on the outer skin, but fall short on truly contouring the fat pads. For true bags, fillers or fat can camouflage the periorbital area by filling in the hollow spots surrounding the bags. For more severe bags, a lower lid blepharoplasty with fat re-draping will lead to the best and most natural outcome.

Answer: Erbium Laser for Eye Bag Treatment Hi and thank you for your question! Erbium laser is a great treatment for around the eyes and it can help with fine lines and wrinkles as well as providing some skin tightening effects. However, the treatment of choice for bags and shadows under the eyes is filler injection and most patients will see very impressive improvements when the injection is done skillfully and with the right type of filler (typically Restylane Silk, Belotero or Volbella). I recommend using micro-cannula for injection to better results and less bruising. I hope it helps and good luck!

Answer: Probably not Skin tightening and eyelid bag reduction is a difficult thing to achieve non surgically. Non-ablative lasers tend not to yield any skin tightening and really don't work that great on wrinkle reduction either. The position of the eyelid in proximity to important muscle and the eyeball itself, really limits the treatments that can be performed safely. Ablative fractional erbium and C02 lasers can yield improvement in the eyelid skin, however if the treatment is performed just around the eyelids it can cause racoon eye like demarcation of pigmentation. These days my favorite treatment for non-surgical eyelid rejuvanation involves a combination of prp, fillers and Venus Viva (a fractional radiofrequency device, that doesn't cause issues with loss of pigmentation or hyperpigmentation). However, true eyelid fat herniation and bags can only be addressed with surgery.

Answer: Eye Bags and Nonablative fractional erbium laser Skin peels and lasers are used to treat skin creepiness and wrinkles. Lower eyelid bags/bulges are generally caused by herniation of the lower eyelid fat pads. Depending on the severity of the herniation, dermal fillers may be used to temporarily camouflage them. Definitive treatment of lower eyelid bulges or shadows as a result of bulges include blepharoplasty, which is the surgical removal and/or repositioning of the fat. See a specialist for a face to face consultation to determine the indicated procedure(s) in your case.
