How can I reduce the size of my canines/fangs? I do not want to make the rest of my teeth bigger with veneers. (photo)

Hello there,I would recommend having your canines adjusted (filed down) to see if the issue can be solved this way. The only thing that prevents them from being adjusted too much is that your teeth may become more sensitive after being filed down. If you aren't satisfied with these results, I would recommend veneers.  Be sure to look at before and after photos when selecting a dentist, so you'll know what to expect. The size of your teeth could be adjusted/altered in 2 ways. -If your main concern is the reducing the length of your canines and you are happy with the length and size of the rest of your front teeth, then the most conservative approach would be to perform enameloplasty on the on the tip of the canines which means that your dentist can round off the pointed tips of the canines and reduce the length slightly to give you a more even smile. -If you are looking at reducing the size of all your upper front teeth, then veneers may be a good option.Hope this helps.

It is advisable to get a comprehensive dental exam with x-rays and digital photos. Express your concerns to your dental provider prior to initiating treatment.  With this, you and your dental provider can discuss concerns and all possible options.  Some options can include small modifications of the canines to shorten or to round off the points, as long as the modification do not adversely affect your tooth or your bite.
