My new veneers have ridges that are "clear" in color, is this correct? (photos)

i have a new set of veneers on my 2 front teeth. they look "natural" however i am really not a fan of the ridges and the grayness of the ridges. to me they look like vertical lines / holes in the teeth. they also look like they slant inwards in the middle. my dentist insists that this are what natural teeth look like. I trust my dentist and i really want to like them but i dont.are they supposed to look like this? is there a good explanation somewhere on the web of the anatomy of front teeth.

Hello there,It is not uncommon for some patients to take a few weeks or so to fall in love with their veneers.  That being said, the way they look is a matter of preference.  If you're unhappy, you should speak with your dentist.  I'll attach a photo to this page of a patient of mine who was very quiet and seemed unsure about his treatment.  Several months later, he was raving about his results and so thankful.  Good luck and I hope this helps. yes, yr dentist is right. that gray colour gives natural look. otherwise it will look artificial. for yr answer, just search 'mamelon on incisal edge' on google.

The conversation of your expectations of the veneer should be prior to doing the veneer.  The color, shape, and length can be dicussed at the time of the temporaries. The temporary gives you time to evaluate what you like and don't like about the veneer before you get the permanent veneer. Once those have been discussed with your dentist then those changes can be incorporated into the final veneer.  Your last chance to make changes is during the try-in stage.  At this time you can express what you like and don't like.  At that time the veneer can be sent back to the lab and adjustments can be made.  The "look" of the front teeth is a matter of preference.  Once the veneer is on permanently it is difficult to make changes.
