Can I Use Xanax to Help Myself to Sleep After Rhinoplasty?

Question

I've been advised to sleep with my head elevated, better is I can sleep sit.. It's even hard for me to sleep only on my back... is it ok to take xanax (alprazolam) to help with the post op? I'm going for a revision rhinoplasty and the first time the swelling was really bad! Could xanax cause more inflammation?

The Xanax will not negatively affect your healing. Patients commonly find xanax does help ease some of the anxiety and discomfort of the first few days after surgery. It's important that you discuss its use with your physician so that the dose and frequency are appropriate.

		It is OK to take to help you sleep 
	
		Do not mix xanax with prescription pain meds or alcohol

Xanax is acceptable to use after the rhinoplasty procedure, however, it is important not to use that with any pain pills.  The Xanax will not affect the healing process.
