I have volume loss across my head and it significantly changed its shape. I have volume loss on temples and forehead (dents) but also the loss stretches from temples into the hairy part of my head on the sides. It feels like my head's width shrunk. This ruined the proportions of my face (now it's bottom heavy) and also my outer eyebrows droop(because there is literally no flesh there). What can be done? female, 33 (not me in pic, but it shows what I mean and the difference in attractiveness)
Answer: Check which photos you are comparing now to the past It is true the temples can be revolumized with injectable fillers, Sculptra, fat, or a silicone temple implant. However, in this age of selfies with our smartphones, one thing to consider is that the smartphone selfies can cause a "fisheye" effect, because the lens of the camera on the phone is only 1-2 mm wide. This causes a photo which is from the point of view of an ant looking from a 1-2 mm spot on the phone from arms length, sometimes even closer. In these smartphone selfies, you will notice that the ears also look more pinned to the side of the head and the amount of skin showing outside of the eyebrows is less. Have a friend or set a timer on your phone to take a photo of yourself from at least 6-8 feet away. Then compare your arms length selfie photo to a photo from 6-8 feet away. If you are facing the camera straight on both photos you will notice that there is more skin showing outside the eyebrows and the temples appear fuller with the photo from far away. The ears will also appear to protrude further from the head. The point of explaining this photographic distortion is to make sure you are not performing cosmetic procedures for the wrong reason. Perhaps you still would benefit from some revolumization of the temples, but not as much as you think. If the temples are too full, that can make the person top heavy, like the character on Sponge Bob, called Squidward. The key is creating balance, and not focusing purely on making one area particularly full to fulfill a perceived defect. Best, Dr. Yang

Answer: Treatment options for volume loss in the temples Hello and thank you for your question. If volume loss is your issue, it can be addressed using some injectable dermal filler in the temple area. There are a variety of filler options to consider, and the duration of your results will depend on the specific filler used and how quickly your body breaks down the filler. I encourage you to schedule a consultation with an experienced, qualified injector who can assess you in person and create a customized treatment plan based on your precise concerns and goals.

Answer: Injectable Fillers for Temple / Temple Augmentation / Volume Loss in Temples -- Soft Tissue Fillers like Radiesse As we age, the face naturally loses volume, specifically in areas like the temples and brow area. Soft tissue fillers like Refyne and Defyne are great for lifting the brow, while more dense fillers Radiesse and BellaFill work to fill the hollows of the temples, making the face appear more youthful. Sculptra is also an alternative. I suggest getting a formal consultation with a cosmetic dermatologist and facial sculpting expert. Best, Dr. Emer
