I had a laser assisted liposuction on my flanks, bra line, low back and abs. I want to know if I can start doing yoga to help stretch my back with stiffness and muscle. I have the tiny sutures still and it has been actually 1 week today.
Answer: Yoga after Lipo I always tell my patients there is no down time with lipo, which is one reason it is such a great procedure. I do not put sutures in at all, so you may want to check with your doctor if they would prefer you wait until your sutures are removed. Many of my patents return to light exercise within a week of their procedure and continue to build the intensity of their return to exercise from there. You should listen to your body as you start back to your normal activities. Be sure to continue to wear your compression garment, and good luck with recovery!

Answer: How Soon After Liposuction Can You Do Yoga? Listen to Your Body After Liposuction, but Most Gentle Exercise Is OK After a Couple It's normal to feel a little protective of your body after a procedure like liposuction. However, the body is resilient and loves to work. After resting a few days, you can go back to gentle exercise, adding in more as you feel ready. One of my colleagues even did a 40-mile bike ride two days after his liposuction! You may feel a little tightness or tearing sensation when you stretch, but that's just the skin re-adjusting. Start with a beginner's class and take it at on your own pace. Consulting with a board-certified dermatologist if you feel nervous about your exercise routine should alleviate your concerns.

Answer: How soon after liposuction can you do gentle or stretch type yoga? Regulations on your laser liposuction. It sounds as though you are recovering nicely. However aggressive stretch yoga might cause you to swell. I would wait until after 2 weeks to start yoga and be sure to wear a mildly compressive garment such as Spanksor other athletic garment to help avoid swelling while exercising.

Answer: Laser Liposuction Thank you for your question. Laser assisted liposuction recovery generally doesn’t require the same amount of down time as traditional liposuction. Typically, most patients return to work after 2 days. However, I recommend avoiding strenuous exercise for at least 1 week. Each patient is different depending the area treated, the amount of fat removed, your genetic tendencies, skin type and natural healing abilities. For more information, I recommend getting an person consultation with a board-certified dermatologist.

Answer: I let my patients exercise and work out after 5 days after Smartlipo (laser lipo) i have done over 700 Smartlipo cases and i let my patients work out fully after 5 days. you may experience some discomfort or even a tearing feeling (which is the scar tissue stretching) but it is not dangerous. Remember with Smartlipo, you will get better for 6 months after your treatment.david berman md
