Small incision opening at the T since breast reduction (Photo)

Question

Hi, I had a large fibroadenoma removed, reconstruction and breast reduction 11 days ago. Healing is going well however yesterday I removed steri strip under my left breast as it had started to curl, but when I did I found a small opening at the T. I took a photo yesterday, showered this morning and took another photo however it appears the color has changed slightly. The added redness may be due to showering. What can do to prevent infection. I cleaned and placed sanitary towel over the wound

have #breast redness, swelling, drainage or odor, it is important to call the
office and speak with the doctor or medical staff. You may need to be seen in
the office and evaluated.

It is fairly common for there to be some separation at the "T" closure along the wound at the bottom of a breast procedure.  Often local wound will suffice. Best to review with your surgeon.

Most common wound head;ing issue in reduction surgeries. Best to follow up with your surgeon fir wound care and understand this WILL heal in a few weeks to months.

Thank you for your question and photo.   I would have your plastic surgeon evaluate the area to ensure the redness is not a sign of infection.  It is always difficult to assess with just a photo and not in person.  Other than that you can apply antibiotic ointment to the area in the meantime as long as you don't have any previous allergies.   Hang in there!

Thank you for your question. It is very common to have a minor wound healing issue particularly at the "T" point in the incision. Your wound looks clean and should heal well.  It is best to apply some antibiotic ointment and a clean dressing of telfa and gauze.
