Has any drs noticed or been told that facial injections don't last more then overnight if patient is taking Elavil or amitriptyline? It's happen to me twice now before I realized what happened and as soon as I stopped filler filled back in for most part.

There is no reason for Elavil or amitryptiline to react with Botox or the dermal fillers. However, note that aminoglycoside antibiotics (gentamicin, neomycin, tobramycin, amkacin, etc.) can cause a problem here. These medications can cause the Botox to be blocked and therefore not achieve the desired result.

Thanks for your question. Amitriptyline is Elavil and is a tricyclic antidepressant that has many side effects none of which are associated with loss of filler in the face. I think the amount that is being injected may be inadequate is all. Have a board certified plastic surgeon with a lot of filler experience meet with you in consultation to determine what product and technique will work for you more effectively.
