I am DD cup size, 5’5 and 130 pounds. My insurance approved the procedure with the inclusion that 330 grams per breast must be removed of breast tissue. What approximate size will that make my cup size?
Answer: Volume and cup size Unfortunately, you have not told us your bra size. If you are 32 or 34, each 100 grams removed corresponds to 1 cup size change. If you are 36 or 38, each 200 grams removed corresponds to 1 cup size change. From this, you can compute the volume required to achieve your desired goal.Best Wishes,Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Breast reduction: weight removed and cup size achieved? Thank you for the question and congratulations on your decision to proceed with breast reduction surgery; this operation tends to be one of the most patient pleasing operations we perform. There is no direct correlation between the amount of tissue removed and the ultimate cup size that a patient will wear after breast reduction surgery. There is simply too much variability among bra cup manufactures to make it a useful metric when it comes to preoperative communication and/or post operative predictions. Before undergoing the breast reduction procedure it will be very important to communicate your size goals with your surgeon (who you should choose very carefully). Most patients wish to achieve enough of a reduction to help with their symptoms while remaining proportionate with the remainder of their torso. With the goal of improving communication with my patients I find the use of photographs of “goal” pictures (and breasts that are too big or too small) very helpful. For example, I have found that the use of words such as “natural” or “B or C cup” means different things to different people and therefore prove unhelpful. Also, as you know, cup size varies depending on who makes the bra; therefore, discussing desired cup size may also be inaccurate. Once you have communicated your goals carefully, your plastic surgeon will be able to provide you with an estimation of how much tissue will need to be removed, in order to achieve your desired outcome. Best wishes with your breast reduction procedure; hopefully you will be very pleased with the outcome of the procedure performed.

Answer: Cup size after breast reduction Without seeing/examining your breasts I can't really tell you what size you will be after surgery. Even then it is not easy to acurrately predict a cup size after surgery. I try to give my patient an idea visually of what I thinkd their size will be with the understanding that this is just an estimate. Bra cup size is deffernt betwen manufacturers, because of this I try to get my patients to not base their happiness with a bresat procedure solely on cup size alone. A breast reduction is a great surgery for reliving neck, back and shoulder pain as well as headache and rashes. This should be you goal with a reduction not just a letter in the alphabet. Talk to your surgeon and see if they can give you an estimate of the size. Thanks for your question.
