I’ve been approved via insurance for a breast reduction. The plastic surgeon I met with said at my size (130 pounds/32 F cup/ 5’3/ 25 years old) a lollipop incision would get the job done. I’ve never had kids and my breast tissue is quite dense according to him. I want to know what the recovery will be like for this surgery? Can I be back at work in a week? 2 weeks? Additionally if I have children later what’s the possibility for breast feeding?

Answer: Breast reduction with lollipop incision Thank you for question. A lollipop incision may not be the best incision if you are a F size, the anchor incision will give you a more aesthetic result. I would re-evaluate the incision type with your surgeon. As for the recovery, everyone is different. Generally we say one week to ten days to take off from work/school. If you healing issues then recovery will take longer. Breast feeding is possible but anytime the breast is operated on there is a chance of not being able to. If breast feeding is 100% your goal, I would wait until the birth of your children. Best of Luck!

Answer: Lollipop breast reduction I have been performing reductions for over 30 years in private practice and would not consider a lollipop lift incision for a true F cup. For a breast lift alone, one week off would suffice in most cases but the reduction, properly performed, would require two weeks off. My broader concern is that you may continue to have sagging with the lollipop procedure which would never be a covered service. As for breast feeding, it is impossible to know whether this would be affected but it might have a consequence in terms of the appearance of your breasts.
