Round, visible nostrils - is it possible to fix with a rhinoplasty? (Photos)

There are multiple ways to change the shape of the nostrils, depending on what bothers you about your nose. A portion of the nostril can be removed with the scars hidden in the crease where the nostrils join the face. This would make the ala less round and more straight, making the nostril appear more oval. Based on your photographs, you do have a droopy columella and a broad tip. This can be addressed by increasing the refinement and projection of the nasal tip, which would also create a more oval nostril. I would recommend seeing a board-certified plastic surgeon to discuss your concerns. Bring some photographs of noses that you like to your appointment.

Short nose,? Large nostrils? hello, and thank you for your inquiry. You do ,it appears ,have a short nose. The angle that the bottom of your nose makes with your upper lip is too high. This allows too much “nostril show“. The nostrils themselves may seem to be wide because of this, but the actual size of the nostrils is really not that wide. The first priority would be to lengthen the nose. Lengthening the nose however can be a frustrating endeavor. It involves taking Cartilage from the septum and adding it to the bottom of the septum as an extension graft. It sounds like a straightforward procedure but it is difficult to achieve more than a very modest increase in length. In some patients that modest increase might be enough but in others it might fall short. A lot depends on the flexibility of the tissue, The quality of the Cartilage harvested from the septum, how will it heals, and some divine providence. along with lengthening the nose sometimes the tip is derotated meaning the angle that the tip makes with the lip is reduced. If after lengthening the nose the nostrils do appear wide they can easily be reduced at the time of surgery or after it has healed as a small local procedure in the office. You do also appear to have a slightly weak chin which could be addressed with either a chin implant or some long acting filler. These too could be done either at the time of surgery or at any other time with local anesthesia for the chin implant.
