Faceliftsthemselves do not affect hearing. However, there are potential side effects toa facelift that may cause a temporary sensation of decreased hearing. Theseinclude blood in the ear canal, which can be removed by your doctor afterexamination, and swelling near the ear canal, which is temporary. If you feelyour hearing has decreased after a facelift, you can visit your surgeon for afollow-up visit to ascertain the reason for it and see if anything can be done. The sutures themselves do not affect hearing in any way.
It is highly unlikely that a facelift will affect your hearing. The incisions being close to the ear should not alter the configuration of the ear in any way that would affect its function. Best Regards.
Your hearing is often muffled following a facelift procedure for two main reasons:1) swelling of the ear canal as a result of normal post-operative edema2) blood trickling into your ear canal during surgeryBoth of these things will resolve during the course of your healing process. Suturing around the ear in the standard facelift manner will not damage or change your ability to hear. Good of luck during your recovery!
Thank you for your question. Hearing should not be affected by sutures being placed close to the ear. If you have any decreased hearing, let your surgeon know as you may have fluid or crusting that could block a portion or all of the external ear canal.
The hearing will not be affected by facelift. However the short aftermath of the face that there may be some drainage that is collected in the external auditory canal that may create some temporary hearing problems. Your surgeon can check you for this and clean the collection out if it is an issue.
Hearing problems after a facelift are usually due to blood in the ear or swelling. This usually goes away after several weeks.
Fortunately, there is no longterm effect on hearing after a facelift, despite the closeness of the incision to the external ear cartilages. Temporary hearing issues can result from blood that gets in the ear canal, or swelling in the area for the first few days, giving a "head cold" like effect. All the best,
It depends on the timing, if you recently had facelift procedure, usually blood in ear canal an cause hearing problem. you can consult your surgeon about this. Good luck!
Hello Rosiejoe-The facelift surgery and the sutures can not affect your hearing. If you are experiencing some change in your hearing immediately after surgery, then have your surgeon check for some residual blood that may have dropped into your hear canal. This can dull one's hearing but can be fixed by having it cleaned out. Good luck.Dr. A.
As others have suggested, this is possibly due to blood around the ear incisions dripping into the ear canal and forming a clot which is blocking the canal. I would start with your plastic surgeon to follow up so he/she can examine your ear and determine if this is the cause. If not, an ENT/audiologists consult is in order. But no, sutures or any facelifting maneuver cannot decrease your hearing. Best of luck!Dr. SubbioBoard-Certified Plastic SurgeonNewtown Square/Philadelphia, PA
The stitches I use under the skin usually dissolve after 4-6 weeks, but ask your plastic surgeon since I don't know the exact type of suture used.
The terms SMAS Facelift and Deep Plane Facelift are not as relevant as the skills and experience of a facelift surgeon. The longevity of the facelift results do not depend on the method, but more on the surgeon and the patient's individual anatomy. An expert facelift surgeon...
Typically some skin is removed in a midface lift procedure. The amount of skin depends on your individual anatomy. The tissues that are deep will be lifted upward and the redundant skin then trimmed appropriately. Best Regards.
Thank you for your question. At 28, yes, a facelift is a bit extreme. There are several non-surgical treatments that may work well for you. Dermal fillers could be the first option to address the nasal labial folds. There is also a treatment called Ultherapy that may be a good option. The...
Thank you for your question and for sharing your concerns and photos. You would see some wrinkle reduction with skin tightening procedures such as laser resurfacing, Ulthera, Profound or even removing some skin right around where you are pulling with your fingers in the photos....
