It is not uncommon for the skin to lose hydration after a co2 laser. We advise patients to apply a ceramide cream such as Elevase Moisture Booster to help strengthen the skin's natural moisture barrier function. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles
What you describe is very common following a fractionated CO2 laser. Initially your skin will be dehydrated and irritated. The remodeling of the skin will take approximately three months. Continue to moisturize and avoid the sun. If you have question, ask your physician.
I would suggest you speak to your physician but the results are not seen for at least 3 months and as the initial swelling goes down the skin looks different. I would speak with the physician who performed the procedure directly. They should be able to explain the healing process. The important thing at this point is to keep the skin hydrated. The healing after resurfacing takes many months so it is important to be patient as well. Best of luck

Thank you for your question. Swelling is to be expected following CO2 laser resurfacing, especially when the treatment is a more aggressive one which would be done for deeper lines/wrinkles. If you are having a problem with your recovery, contact your physician who performed the...
