Microneedling helps improve texture of the skin but not volume restoration. Studies have shown that the application of Defenage with Microneeling enhances the results significantly more than with PRP application. Defenage is much easier to apply as well and does not require drawing blood. I hope you enjoy your treatment and your results !Best Wishes, Anna Petropoulos, MD, FRCSBoard Certified Facial Plastic SurgeonBoston's North Shore
Microneedling will stimulate collagen production superficially in the skin and help with fine lines and uneven skin texture. It does not improve face volume. I would consider a filler such as Sculptra Aesthethic if you are looking to correct volume loss.
Microneedling creates fine channels into the skin and stimulates the growth of high-quality collagen. It is a great treatment for improving skin texture, eliminating fine lines, scars, and pigmentations, but it is not going to produce increased volume. Volume can only be achieved with fillers. PRP will deliver better results. The research was published in Dermatology last year. In my practice I use the patient's own PRP for better and safer results. It is very important to have this procedure performed by an experienced physician.
Hi gpaulo1981, Microneedling has amazing results but the collagen growth is on the skin so you don't expect the same amount of volume replacement that can be achieved with dermal fillers. However, it may be effective in diminishing superficial lines and wrinkles.PRP is great at enhancing collagen growth because of the release of growth factors that enhance healing and regeneration. All the best, Justin Harper, M.D.
