When will hard lumps go away after SmartLipo and how many times a day and for how long do I massage? (photo)

I typically tell my
patients that they will start seeing results 4-6 weeks post surgery. After two
weeks, you are likely still swollen. You can also start massaging the areas
treated to help any residual swelling. Small circular motions to start and
massage deeper if it you don't have any discomfort.

Swelling and healing as well as scar maturation can persist for 6
months and sometimes up to 1 year following liposuction. I would
follow with your doctor at this point.

The hardness and lumps are manifestations of swelling which is normal after liposuction. The swelling would resolve gradually over several months. Keep wearing your compression garment as instructed and be patient. It is also a good idea to follow up with your surgeon to discuss your concerns. Happy healing. 

Was your surgeon a boarded PS? I recommend aggressive lymphatic massages twice a week and external ultrasound therapy.

The hard areas you are describing are pockets of
swelling, which will eventually go away on its own. After your Smartlipo
procedure please wear the compression garment for however long your surgeon
requires. Please follow up with your surgeon to make sure you are healing
properly.

Hello. Definitely follow the instructions of your treating physician. I have my liposuction patients massage on their own at least daily for 30 minutes or more. I thinks it's better to be gentle for longer times than to be too aggressive and potentially worsen the swelling. Weekly lymphatic drainage massage is definitely helpful but not a substitute for doing the massage on your own. Be careful about salt intake and focus on the lumpy hard areas when you massage.
