Percocet is a stronger narcotic pain reliever. This should be effective.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA
Thank you for your question. I explain to my patients that the first 24 to 48 hours is the most intense discomfort. Staying well hydrated, Benadryl 25 to 50 mg every 6-8 hours, and Percocet or vicodin will usually help with the discomfort. Actually, I also like to prescribe Celebrex and give this to my patients as it tends to reduce the amount of narcotic pain medication required. The Percocet, Vicodin, Loratab all have significant side effects including, but not limited to, nausea and vomiting, headaches, constipation and GI upset. After the first 24 hours, the discomfort is present, but much reduced. Hope this helps!
