Bump on left side of nose. How is this corrected? (Photo)

I made a computer morph of your nose, and an animation of the morph, to show the changes that should be possible for your nose.I simulated moving that left nasal bone back closer to the middle of your nose. I think that's what's required. It doesn't look as though filing it down would help.

You would need a face to face examination to better evaluate this deformity.  It is in the keystone area of the nose so it likely involves bone and some cartilage.  Best case scenario is that a simple rasping of this area is all that is needed.  However an infrature of the nasal bone on that side may also be required for symmetry.  

The area of the bump is rhinion and it is a small rhinion bump or horn. A gentle shave and filing down of that area will improve the appearance in a subtle way. RegardsDr Janjua

Thanks for your question. From your pictures the left nasal bone is displaced and you appear to have a septal deviation. Without other views and/ or an examination of your nose, it would be difficult to give you a definitive answer. However, you would be an excellent candidate for a rhinoplasty/ nasal correction. This should be easily accomplished to correct your issue creating a natural appearance with the subtle changes you desire. Please consult with an experienced rhinoplasty expert to be evaluated and discuss your options.

The dorsal hump is usually composed of both bone and cartilage, which must be shaved down.  Osteotomies will then be required to narrow the bridgeline

Great question! Yes, see what you mean by the bump...and you have beautiful features by the way! It's a pretty straight forward fix. The bone on the left side (we call it the sidewall) is "lateralized" or "wide" so it is sticking out and tenting up the skin. That bone would need to be sanded down ("rasped") a bit so its not sharp there and then brought toward the middle (this is called an "osteotomy"). Your nose would then be assessed to be sure it looks straight. If it still appears to be off center then we use a tiny bit of cartilage (from the septum inside your nose) to fill out the contour to be sure its left beautiful and straight. Whether to adjust the tip of the nose is up to you and could be part of the surgery or left natural if that is your preference also.

It appears from your pictures that the bump appears to be at the junction of your nasal bone and what we call the upper lateral cartilage. This may be causing the bump. You would need a physical examination to confirm this. If this is the case we would have to straighten out the junction. As an artist (from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art) I like using the reshaping technique when performing Rhinoplasties. Using advanced suturing techniques I can change the shape of your nasal cartilages giving you a thinner, more refined natural looking nose. I like to find out from the patient what their goals are. I then examine the nose and I write up a detailed operative plan. I incorporate the FINNESSE technique which I invented. Bleeding, bruising and postoperative pain are minimal when compared to traditional techniques and recovery is quicker. I don't routinely pack the nose. It is not uncommon that some patients have no bruising after surgery. Recently I had a 21 year old who woke up giggling. She did not require pain medication except for Tylenol. The area to which you are referring is likely your left nasal bone, unless it is an underlying cyst or something else like that. This can be addressed with an outpatient, endonasal/closed rhinoplasty while still preserving the parts of your nose that you love. See a board certified plastic surgeon and rhinoplasty expert for an in person consult.

It appears you have a bony asymmetry and possibly a deviated septum. Several options are available depending upon how much correction you desire. Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon specializing in rhinoplasty. 

Appears based solely upon the posed photos your left nasal bone is outwardly displaced with slight widen hump effect. In my over the internet opinion you will need full rhinoplasty with in fracture of nasal bones and slight hump reduction, fees from $5,000 to $8,000.
