I think my face is a little too wide, but could it be because of my weak chin? I am considering getting a chin implant soon, and I want to make the shape of it sharper, as i feel like the sharpness will make my round face a little elongated. My face looks round when I smile, but it’s not that round when it’s relaxed. Could this also be a result of my overbite? (my overbite is not severe) Some surgeons rejected operating my chin, but my nose surgeon says its necessary
Answer: Chin implant For many ethnicities, a narrow chin implant as you've shown with your imaging, is more harmonious with a wider chin/ jawline. The more popular "glove" or wraparound implants widen the chin too much. In your case, I would use a narrow chin implant, and also consider shaving the width of the jawline to give you a more oval shape. This would require an in person consultation to make sure you are on the same page.

Answer: Face contouring Dear i_mi96,it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Answer: Change face shape? Chin implant candidate You have a few options to improve the projection and symmetry of your chin. If you’re not sure you’re ready for surgery, but still want to improve and strengthen your chin, I’d suggest augmenting your chin with Sculptra and/or Voluma. If you like your new look, you can make it permanent with a chin implant. I hope that helps.

Answer: Chin implant A chin augmentation procedure is an important way for surgeons to balance the lower third of the facewith the middle third of the face. This can be true if you feel that your nose is prominent relative to the size and shape of the jawline. However, the options for chin implantation versus sliding genioplasty surgery often are dictated by the type of occlusion you have. As you mentioned you may have an overbite, and this may be something you want to discuss with your dentist or your surgeon prior to a decision re: chin augmentation. Other options include dermal fillers like Restylane which can be injected temporarily to the areas as well.best of luck to you.

Answer: Chin Augmentation While your desired chin change is possible with an implant be aware that it will not be achieved with a standard implant. If you match up your before and after imaged pictures, you will see that the chin change you have done combines an equal amount of vertical and horizontal elongation....in essence a 45 degree chin lengthening which is the best change for your chin which is just as much vertically short as horizontal. No standard chin implant can create that change. It will require a custom chin implant to do so.
