I had Bellafill injected along jawline to provide a lift approx 1 yr ago. However, it has made my jawline fuller which now appears to be square. My concern is it is getting fuller as time goes on. Any suggestions? I regret doing the Bellafill as I understand it is nearly impossible to remove.
Answer: Bellafill Removal Filler migration and granuloma formation can cause longterm problems with Bellafill and Artefill fillers. This is similar in patients who have Artecoll and PMMA fillers. Longterm filler complications include migration, edema, chronic swelling, and nodularity. If patients have filler migration or nodules, we recommend a combination approach of filler reversal with enzymes, corticosteroids, and scar tissue modulators. Our HIDEF approach can break down filler scarring and granulomas so that they are less apparent. If the filler material itself does not dissolve, it either means the filler is likely not HA material or is unresponsive to conservative therapy. This technique may be followed by surgical removal of the filler if there is a suitable target for removal and the chance of scarring is low. Surgical removal of Bellafill is possible and we have a wide ranging experience with the treatment. Some areas of the face can be treated because the Bellafill removal scars are barely visible. We have found that Bellafill nodules, if palpated, can be removed from the tissue. Undereye Bellafill, nasolabial fold Bellafill, and lip filler can be treated successfully. Diffuse Bellafill is difficult to treat. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Bellafill in jawline a year ago, now not happy There should be no further changes in the correction - no more collagen production - at this point. It might be possible to decrease the correction with 5FU, steroids, or collagenase. Another possible therapy is Ulthera to try to destroy the PMMA / collagen. Surgical excision will work as well.

Answer: Bellafill and Removal After 12 years of experience with Bellafill, I have never had to remove it. In your case, I would wonder why your jaw is getting more square. Bellafill is very stable and rarely, if ever changes or gets bigger. However, other changes could be occurring in your face that make that Bellafill injection look like they are the problem. If you feel that the Bellafill need to be reduces then a combination of 5FU and Kenalog 10 should work but it is a slow process if done properly as at least 4 to 6 injections spaces a month apart is the safest way tp approach this. Some physicians may suggest collagenase but this drug is used for the treatment of a condition called Dupytren's disease and requires a physician to take a course to inject it. I is very dangerous to inject it any place other than the intended disease which is on the hand.I hope that helps.Best regards.

Answer: Bellafill: Removing it forever... Good Day. Thank you for your question. The best way for advanced injectors to avoid this issue, is to only inject about 80% of the estimated amount at one time and to precisely place the filler. However, if placed in excess amounts, a nodule or granuloma occurs, or the filler induces your own collagen formation in an undesired site, there is a remedy.Injection of triamcinolone (Kenalog) alone, or more commonly adding 5 flurouracil (FU) has greater than a 95% efficacy. Rarely does surgical excision need to be undertaken. An advanced, experienced injector can administer Bellafill with outstanding results with the same or less potential complications as HLA (Juvaderm and Restylane product) fillersGood luck with your choices.
