Answer: BBL and optimal weight? While there is no absolute number (lbs.) in terms of weight for undergoing liposuction with autologous fat transfer, the optimal candidate has reached a healthy and stable weight (preferably with a BMI less than 30, which is associated with a lower incidence of complications). Potential candidates should also have adequate fat reserves for transfer. This becomes especially important when one considers the anticipated rate of fat resorption and graft loss. I typically recommened patients aim for at least 500 cc transferred per cheek. This would amount to 1 liter of fat (not lipoaspirate) after processing. Candidates with inadequate fat reserves are likely to be disappointed with their ultimate volume once healing is complete. It is difficult to offer any real advice or guidance without at least some photos for visualization. It is important for patients to realize that liposuction with or without fat transfer is a contouring tool and not a means to achieve weight loss. It is often helpful for patients to perform a systematic self assessment in order to identify areas they hope to treat or improve as well as provide goal photos in order to paint an accurate picture of their expectations. Your board certified plastic surgeon is uniquely qualified to evaluate patient expectations and develop an appropriate strategy for moving forward. As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon.

Answer: How much would I need to weigh in order to get a bbl with fat transfer? The recommended BMI is less than 30. This is the recommendation of the American society of plastic surgery. The reason simply, is increased chance of complications. These include but limited to, pulmonary embolus, deep venous thrombosis, delayed wound healing and increase infection rate. Please put your front, side pictures. These pictures are easier to see if they are taking by someone else not close to the camera of the area you are interested only to give you a better answer.Choose a board certified plastic surgeon who has done a ton of Brazilian Butt Lifts and has privileges to do this surgery at a local university hospital. This says his credentials have been checked out by fellow Drs. All surgeries carry risk, talk to your plastic surgeon and choose one wisely. Many surgeons, including myself, offer online virtual consultations where you send us your photos and we can estimate the cost. I, like many surgeons, also offer free consultations so that you can be examined and given the most accurate quote.

Answer: What to do? Hi and thanks for your open and honest question. There is no specific weight that you need to be. It really depends on how much volume you want to add to your buttocks. Occasionally it needs to be done in multiple stages, or an implant needs to be used. Hang in there! You are doing the right thing by asking the right questions.

Answer: How much would I need to weigh in order to get a bbl with fat transfer? I would recommend an in person consultation to evaluate how much fat is available for the transfer. Seek a plastic surgeon who performs hundreds of these procedures, has great reviews and photos, and is an expert in this field.
