Can I get dermal fillers 2 days after getting booster vaccine for Covid?

Question

I have my vaccine appointment on Tuesday and filler appointment on Thursday. Should I reschedule my filler appointment? Will there be side effects to fillers if I do it too soon after booster shot?

I recommend waiting until two weeks after your COVID-19 Vaccine or booster to get fillers because if there is a reaction from the vaccine it will be difficult to tell which caused the reaction. We have also seen more swelling in people if they get fillers too close to the vaccine or recent COVID infection. The other thing that we noticed is that if botulinum toxin is given too soon after the vaccine, it wears off very quickly. I recommend waiting at least two weeks after your vaccine before getting Botox as well.

Great question!! A study investigated adverse events and facial fillers.  This study was published in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal in June of 2023 and found a rare occurrence of localized inflammation in patients with COVID vaccine as well as even rarer in patients with other types.  Based on this information, facial fillers are safe with a very low chance of localized inflammation afterwards.  I like waiting one week as just the recovery from vaccination can be difficult.  Be safe!!!

We recommend waiting two weeks after the COVID vaccine before having filler treatment.  This is related to a risk of increased swelling.  After that time it should be fine to have fillers.  Your provider will advise based on the office protocol.
