Hello, I am now 8 weeks post op. I still notice some of the hairs have not shed and there is quite a bit of redness around certain grafts. Can you please advise if this is normal? I have asked my consultant but he just always seems to says it’s ok without any real reassurance or guidance. Thank you in advance,
Answer: Hair Transplant Postop After a hair transplant we advise to carefully protect the transplanted hairs for the first 5 days, after which showering and increasing your activities is possible. The transplanted hair shafts will typically fall out in about 3 weeks and the new hairs will start to grow in at 3-4 months. Full growth is judged at 10-12 months. Sometimes the native hairs in the recipient area will continue to thin over time which can give the illusion of a failed transplant, when in reality most of the density is actually from the transplanted hair. In your situation, because the hair transplant takes such a long time to heal, this is not abnormal. Schedule a consultation with your doctor if more concerns arise. Answer: Shedding & Redness after HT Hello, Thank you for your question and uploading photos. Based on the photos, you don't have redness, it is just pinkish color which is normal, and it takes a couple of months to disappear. Most of the patients have a shedding process, but sometimes, the newly transplanted hair continues growing without shedding.Try to reach out your surgeon and get his opinion as well.

Answer: 8 weeks post op Hello, thank you for your question. It is a bit unusual to not have any shedding at his point in your recovery. Some pink/redness is OK as long as the area is not warm to the touch or appear to be infected. If you are not getting satisfactory answers from your surgeon then make an appointment and go in and see him/her. Good luck to you.

Answer: Redness and lack of shedding of transplanted hairs Rarely, transplanted hairs continue to grow without shedding. The redness is a bit unusual; a call to your surgeon and a trip in for in-person evaluation would be a good idea.

Answer: Some hairs remain The fact that some of the hairs remain is not usual. I don't see the redness you are speaking about but a pink color often lasts for a month or two
