Can I gently rub my fingertips on my scalp one month post hair transplant? (Photo)

At one month after a hair transplant it is OK to rub the scalp as the transplanted follicles will not be affected.  

2 weeks after hair transplantation the grafts have healed and will not typically be dislodged without drawing blood. It is at this point that most patients will return to routine scalp and hair maintenance.With regards to your specific question, gentle rubbing at 1 month will not damage any viable grafts.As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS) with experience in hair restoration.Donovan Rosas MD

You can gently massage your scalp whilst shampooing, with your fingertips, without scratching with your nails though. The grafts get anchored to the skin by the 10th day, therefore they won't be negatively affected by the movement.

At this stage of post-hair transplant healing you can rub, touch, wash, clean your head normally. There should be no reason why not. The grafted hairs are likely to be falling out soon if not have. Waiting to regrow in a few months. 

It's safe to gently rub your scalp now. At 30 days post-op, the graft was embedded permanently. Rubbing might cause the transplanted hair to fall off but, no worries, it will regrow in the next 2-3 months. 

Hello. I understand your concern but you have nothing to worry about. At this point in your recovery you have healed and no damage has been done.

After just a few weeks your grafts have fully taken and there is nothing you can do that will pull them out that wouldn't have pulled out regular hair anyways. I would say that no matter what answer what are you going to do about it even if they fell out?

Not to worry.   At this point, you are well healed and graft survival will not be affected.  Having said that,  gentle massage is ok, scratching is not.  If your scalp itch is increasing, I would suggest following up with your transplant surgeon.

Yes you can now run your transplanted area hair and donor without any risk of losing anything.
In fact proper scalp care is now recommended and mild shampoos should be used as well.

At one month post op you can rub your scalp with no problem. Your hair transplant superficially should have healed well by now. You may have retained some of your transplanted hairs at this stage also. ensure you keep your hair and scalp clean and hygienic. Wash regular and take care not to knock or cause an infection. No harm can come of touching your scalp now.
