My PS says it's normal and will settle itself is that right? They are not the same shake?
Answer: 3 weeks post breast reduction/lift: Bunching and pleating around areola and one is teardrop shaped Thank you for your question and photos. Without the benefit of preop photos, it is difficult to comment about your result. What I see that your right areola was inset in less than a round design. Most surgeons follow their preop markings intra-operatively, but sometimes one needs to make adjustments during surgery. The right areola will never "settle itself". The reason I'm saying this, is because your surgeon over resected the medial breast and excess breast tissue was left laterally. The tension lines in your upright photo tends to pull laterally, thus elongating your areola. Your photo shows that you had excess tissue left inferiorly and you are sagging already. You need to give time (about 6-8 months) for healing. Stay close to your surgeon, most likely you will need a revision. Good luck.

Answer: Scars 3 weeks after breast reduction Hi. 3 weeks is very early in terms of knowing what the scar/shape result will be like long-term. Usually the scars after operations are just red/lumpy for 2 months or so, and taping scars for 3-4 months with silicone sheets will help - your plastic surgeon is correct that most of the time these lumps resolve by themselves. The shape of the breasts also usually changes for at least 3 months. Try to be patient at this stage and wait until all the postoperative changes have finished before assessing thingsIf the scars are continuing to thicken after 6 weeks then the medical grade Fraxel re:store DUAL laser is the best laser to help minimise the scarring - you should be having these treatments at that stage. It is best to wait for a year of more to see how well the scars fade before considering a surgical scar revision. Regards Dr Charles Cope
