You should not damage anything to your nose by wearing sunglasses (or regular glasses) 3 months after rhinoplasty. The swelling after rhinoplasty can take 6-12 months to resolve, so this is most likely the reason for the impressions you saw after wearing your sunglasses. This will not lead to any permanent change in the appearance of your nose.
At 3 months post surgery, your nasal bones should be strong enough for glasses. It can take up to a full year for all of the swelling to completely subside. The impression was most likely due to some residual swelling, but you did not do anything to cause long term damage.
I generally advise my patients to refrain from wearing sunglasses for at least 6 weeks after surgery. You should be ok at 3 months post-op. I would recommend speaking with your surgeon, as they may have specific guidelines they would like you to follow. I hope this helps, and I wish you the best of luck.
At three months after rhinoplasty your nose should be healed enough to tolerate sunglasses but still swollen to leave an indentation.
You may still have some swelling present on your nose and wearing glasses may temporarily leave indentations on your nose. These should not be permanent.
Dear Barry, Thank you for your question. Your nasal bones will be well healed by 3 months so it is safe to wear sunglasses. You still have swelling, which is why there was a temporary impression, but this does not cause permanent damage. Best Wishes, Pablo Prichard, MD
You should ask your Rhinoplasty Surgeon for specific post Rhinoplasty instruction. For the past 25 years I have recommend that my Rhinoplasty patients not wear galsses of any kind for the first 6 months in order to avoid those types of indentations.
At eight weeks, you likely have hyperpigmenation- a byproduct of the bruising. This too should disappear with time but you would benefit from some skin care. Most plastic surgeons have an esthetician on staff you can consult with.
It's unwise for patients to apply pressure to the nose in an attempt to move nasal structures after a Rhinoplasty. You should have this conversation with your Rhinoplasty Surgeon.
Dear Jimmy, Thank you for your question. The splint is holding the nasal bones and cartilage in place. Moving the splint can thus move the structures underneath. It is best to leave the splint alone in the position that your surgeon left it in. Even when the splint is...
It is unlikely that you have actually caused damage to your recovering nose. Accidents are not uncommon in the first days of recovery, but it is rare that substantial damage will ensue from such minor trauma like you have described. I recommend that you make an appointment to see your surgeon in...
Dear LB32, Massaging may help and certainly won't make things worse, especially if it does not hurt you You can also wait for it to heal and see how it looks If the front and side views do not look asymmetric, but the base view is slightly off, you may want to just leave it...
Dear Diamond, Thank you for your question. While I'm sure you can find a rhinoplasty somewhere for that price, it is probably not a good idea to shop like that for a facial procedure. The difference between a nose you may like and a nose you do not like is measured in millimeters...
