Need to know what to wear day of TT surgery when going home and recovery ? Binder and drainage tubes will be used after the procedure. How long is the binder used after the TT surgery ?

For specific details it’s best to consult with your surgeon. However, I recommend my patients to wear something loose fitting and comfortable to go home in after surgery and to wear the abdominal binder for 4-6 weeks post surgery.

After surgery you would be most comfortable in over sized sweatpants and a zip up or button up shirt.  Some patients choose to wear a robe with pockets so they can place their drainage bulbs in the pockets.  The idea is to wear loose, comfortable clothing is the goal.  Your surgeon would be the one to answer how long the binder is to be worn and when your drainage tubes are removed.  Good luck!

I recommend comfortable, loose fitting pajama type clothes. My patients are in a full body garment so the other stuff just covers it. I recommend 3 weeks of garment for 24 hours then 3 weeks for 12 hours.

I understand your concern. It is best that you consult your plastic surgeon regarding post operative care and management (i.e including massage techniques and timing) specific to your case. Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors.It is best, however, that you follow your plastic surgeon's advice on post operative care management for a smooth and faster healing and recovery.

Wear comfortable clothes. Big and easy to put on. Sweatpants, tee shirts.  The binder is worn for several weeks. Speak with your surgeon regarding his/her protocol on the binder. Best wishes!

When going home from your procedure you will want to wear loose, comfortable clothing.  A baggy shirt that buttons up the front would be ideal.   Have stretchy pants or shorts and non skid shoes.  Make sure that the clothes you choose are not your "favorite" in case they are soiled.  Bring pillows to help with your comfort on your ride home.  The binder use varies by surgeon, so she/he is the best person to answer that question.  Good luck with your surgery!

We always recommend patients wear loose clothing, such as nightgowns or button-up shirts & sweats, on the day of surgery. Patients may wear whatever is most comfortable for them during their postoperative recovery period, as long as the abdominal binder is worn at all times. We suggest wearing a thin tank top/shirt between the incision & binder to avoid irritation.

In our practice, we recommend loose fitting clothing when going to the surgical facility. You will be wearing a binder and some drainage receptacles which will increase your circumference. Some will wear a loose fitting sweat suit.  Comfort is key. The same hold true for your period of recovery.
