How Weak Will my Nose Be Once Its Fully Recovered?

Question

I am planning to get my nose done but I sometimes get into fights and I am usually in crowded places. I can be extra careful while its recovering but I don't want to be paranoid and careful for the rest of my life. Once my nose is fully healed will it more or less be as strong as my real nose?

After osteotomies have been performed the nasal bones are slightly weaker than they were prior to the surgery. It is probably best to get your fighting career over first, and then consider a rhinoplasty

After a rhinoplasty the nasal bones will be slightly weaker than before. If you fight regularly this is not a good idea.

After several weeks the nasal bones have typically healed following rhinoplasty with osteotomies. However, if you're fighting on a regular basis there is a real risk of another nasal fracture. If you're going to invest the time and money to have a rhinoplasty it would be best to avoid the risk of any additional facial injuries. I hope this information is helpful.

Hello,

	I would suggest that you do not have rhinoplasty surgery if you find that you are unable to avoid physical confrontation with others.  Once nasal bones are cut or broken, they are never quite as strong as original.  Furthermore, even if they were to heal at 100% strength, a fist could still break them.  It just seems quite pointless to me to spend the time and money to have your nose fixed if you expect to put it right back into harms way.
