The decision on the dorsum or bridge of the nose is a personal one, some people like what we call retruse, a slight slope and others prefer straight.  One guide will be you ethnic background, another will be your sex.  What looks good on a man will not look good on a women.

It is true that shorter female faces suit a slight lope but no one wants a “ski jump” These are the personal decisions you need to discuss with the surgeon, look at before and afters of the surgeons work and try to think of that result on you.  This will make the path clear and then what you want can be matched by the best surgical procedure to achieve your goals.

If you're uncertain about the way you want your nose to look I would suggest video imaging. It's a great way to communicate to your surgeon what you expect from the operation.

Your question cannot be answered by anyone on this site. The appearance and goal you are seeking has to come from you. If you still do not know what you are looking for i suggest you reconsider your surgery. At the very least you need to discuss your concerns with your surgeon who would be able to help you the best. Communication is key and you want to try to get it right the first time.

The ideal profile will depend on your height, ethnicity and your personal aesthetic.  I tend to like straighter profiles with a slight supratip break - think Grace Kelly.  A good way to determine if you'll like a certain profile is to have your surgeon perform computer morphing on a profile view of your nose.  That way you can compare the possibilities side by side. 

This is one of the few areas in aesthetic surgery where most of the time it is really all about your own preference as I give my patients the choice of which profile they prefer. However, I do usually make a recommendation. You need to spend some time in front of the computer imaging system with your surgeon well in advance of the procedure and look at various profiles. Most of my patients choose a slight supratip break (gentle slope) yet most believe at the beginning of the consult they want a straight profile for the same reason you give in that they are afraid of the "ski-jump". However, keep in mind the ski jump comes from a surgical error and not a patient choice, so the chances of you getting that is slim no matter which profile you choose. Most patients (female) do find that a slight supratip break is more feminine and it has nothing to do with your height.  

 The amount of slope patients desire is  different with each individual. The amount of slope that can be accomplished is also variable with each different type of nose structure.
