Hello. I'm 15 years old and I'm a 34DD in bra size. Im 5'-1 and 128lbs I started developing at an early age and my cup size hasn't increased in 2 years but I noticed that it appears most of my breasts is just loose skin. They point downward, especially after a hot shower and ive been having a lot of discomfort in my upper back. I was wondering if I'm too young to get a breast lift and if a breast lift could solve some of the issues? Im most just concerned about the way they droop. The size I'm happy with
Answer: Wait until you're 18 In general, I think it's best to wait until you are at least 18 and your breasts have stopped developing before considering any kind of cosmetic surgery. You sound as if you would be a good candidate for a breast lift or reduction, but they could still be growing and this would ultimately affect your outcome. Best, Dr. Nazarian

Answer: You likely need a breast reduction, not a lift At 15, you are still very young and your body will go through a lot of changes. However, if you do have issues such as back pain and discomfort, you might benefit from a breast reduction. Understand, however, that most likely your breasts will continue to grow as you age and your breasts may once again grow to a point where you will need another surgery. Patients getting breast reductions in their teens often end up requiring another one once they stop growing. You stated you are not concerned about the size, only about a droop. However a lot of your discomfort would be solved by a reduction. A lift, a purely cosmetic procedure, would not be recommended for a teenager. A reduction, to address medical issues (back pain etc) would be possible but would need an approval from OHIP.

Answer: Breast lift Thank you for your question. I recommend that you discuss your desire to have plastic surgery with a parent who will need to give you consent to go through with the procedure. A consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon will allow you to know whether or not you are a worthy candidate for the breast lift procedure. All the best,Dr. ResultsMiami, FL

Answer: Breast lift at 15 I think at 15 you might be a bit young to get a lift. You might still grow a bit more with time. Best of luck.

Answer: Qualifying for a breast lift Dear memogram1228, Thank you for your clinical post and I’m sorry to hear of your symptomatic breast hypertrophy. Enlarged breasts can lead to significant symptoms such as you experience neck pain, shoulder pain, skin inflammations under the crease. All of these are health care concerns and would make you a candidate for Ontario Health Insurance Plan breast reduction surgery. A breast reduction would not only give you a lift and a more youthful breast position, but would likely provide significant symptom relief. The problem is that at 15 years old you still have a significant amount of potential breast growth and hypertrophy to occur and surgery at a young age might necessitate subsequent surgery at a later age. Waiting until you have finalized your growth as judged by skeletal maturity, which is generally x-rays of your wrist growth plates will determine when the best and optimal time for a breast reduction would be. You will likely be in the range of 17 years old and still require some parental consent. I would seek out a plastic surgeon in your area that does breast reduction surgery and you can begin the consultation process at 15 or 16, as often the waiting time is 1-2 years. I hope this information has been of some assistance and best of luck. For more information, please review the link below. R. Stephen Mulholland, M.D. Certified Plastic Surgeon Yorkville, Toronto
