Why am I still spitting stitches ? How can this be Prevented ?

Had breast lift and reduction over 7 months ago . I have been sitting stitches every few months . The right breast more . In the beginning I even got a staff infection from the spitting stitch . Now I know when they are coming and clean the area well . Help because they are making my scars thicker and wider . Thanks some much

I'm so sorry to see this.  Nobody knows for sure why some folks are more prone to reject suture than others, but every plastic surgeon has had it happen to them.  If we could prevent it we would.  Eventually, the suture material will dissolve and you should be done with this problem.Hang in there!

Spitting stitches occurs when the sutures under the skin erupt through the skin before they dissolve., Why some get it more than others, is difficult to determine.

Sorry to hear about your problem. There are many different types of dissolvable and non-dissolvable sutures and the dissolvable sutures dissolve over different periods of time from a few days to several months. It depends on what type of suture your PS used for the deeper closure. You should follow up with him/her and ask so you can get a realistic timeframe on when this problem should be resolved.
