Dear ms_ward,I frequently combine liposuction and tummy tuck in order to smooth out love handle area and provide my patients with the best possible results. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Dear Ms Ward, It would have been helpful to see your pictures. If the tummy tuck revision is small and involves mainly scar revision, extensive liposuction can be done, however if you are having full tummy tuck revision, it is not safe to combine it with liposuction due to the significant increased risk of severe complications. In a recent article in the plastic surgery journal that was based on data from cosmetic surgery only insurance company, it was revealed that combining tummy tuck with liposuction increases the severe complication rate X 10 in comparison to tummy tuck alone. In Florida, it is illegal to perform tummy tuck with liposuction of over 1000 cc, which is a relatively small amount. That occurred after state investigation of multiple severe complications and deaths that took place in cosmetic surgery centers. The conclusion of the investigation was that the most common cause for the complications and deaths was the combination of tummy tuck and liposuction ! Always, consult with experienced board certified plastic surgeons who operate in accredited surgery center for your safety. Most importantly, check the before and after pictures in the photo gallery of redo tummy tuck, to make sure that they are numerous, consistent and attractive with flat stomach, tight and youthful looking skin, nice belly button, narrower waists, improved body posture and low scar. Best of luck, Dr Widder
Hello!Liposuction can help during Tummy Tuck revisions. It really depends on how much of a scar revision/skin removal is necessary in combination with your medical history, as well as how helpful Lipo can be. I would recommend you see a board certified plastic surgeon to help you assess your best options.Best of luck!
Hello and thank you for your question. The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. It would be helpful to view pictures of your abdomen in order to determine the best surgical approach to your revision tummy tuck. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. These are good questions to ask your surgeon pre-operatively. I will frequently do liposuction of the love handle area and around the ends of the tummy tuck scar as a revision if necessary, to smooth that area out. Liposuction will not help remove a scar, it will only remove fat.
It is impossible to comment in the absence of photos documenting the reason for revision and potential need for liposuction. An extensive revision should not be accompanied by liposuction due to potential interference with blood supply.
Thank you for the question. Liposuction is frequently performed during or after tummy tuck procedures to treat love handles. Without seeing some photos, it would be impossible to answer if the upcoming procedure will fix scaring.
Revisions after tummy tucks are very common. Liposuction, the suction removal of unwanted subcutaneous fat, is just a tool the surgeon uses during a procedure. If you still have pockets of fat after your initial procedure the fat can be removed by liposuction or the surgeon can directly remove the fat while looking at it.I would recommend obtaining a couple of opinions on revision procedures as the experience and skill of the surgeon varies considerably and one surgeon's approach may actually benefit you more than another. Always consult with Board Certified Plastic Surgeons who perform body contouring procedures frequently to assure the best possible result.Good Luck!
mini plastic surgeons what do you liposuction as part of a tummy tuck or as a separate procedure. It's simply one more tool in the toolbox we used to shape the abdomen. This is something you should talk to your provider about. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
You should have an ultrasound or repeated drainages to be sure this is a seton. If so, going back to surgery is the right course. The bursa needs to be removed , new drains put in and an binder. You should be fine after that. The good news is that the abdomen usually...
And my experience with massive weight loss patients is that they want skin gone... and don't want jiggly skin post-op. I always recommend the FDL for those patients BUT clearly show them what the scars look like and that 2 piece swimsuits will unlikely be in their future. Well educated p...
