Last year I had tear trough filler, It helped the dark circles, however it felt bulky under my eyes and when smiling the filler caused my under eye smile lines to look worse, they looked like indents and the filler buldged around them, I did since discover Restalyne Lyft is not a first choice filler for tear trough. The filler has now worn off but I'd like it done again for the dark circles. Will it always make my smile lines appear worse or will a smoother filler produce a better result? Thanks
Answer: Need to come in to consult For unique cases where a variety of modalities could be used to treat the condition, I would suggest an in person or virtual consultation to develop a custom and effective treatment plan. It is difficult to precisely define the best option without collecting the same information. I suggest reaching out to an expert for a consultation with surgical and non-surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: How to rejuvenate the eyes: Know your treatment options Hello and thank you for your question. While it’s difficult to make recommendations without images or a personal evaluation, fillers are typically used to treat darkening and hollowing in the under-eye area. In my office, we use a micro-cannula rather than a filler to treat this area to ensure smooth, natural results. Fillers or Botox (or a combination of injectables) can also be used to treat visible lines. Botox, specifically, works on dynamic wrinkles caused by facial expressions such as smiling. To find out the best treatment for your concerns and goals, I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with a reputable board-certified facial plastic surgeon, particularly one with extensive experience with injectables. Your surgeon can evaluate your skin, recommend the best treatment options, and ensure the best possible results.

Answer: Fillers It's difficult to give a recommendation without photos or an exam. Fillers are often used to help improve contours under the eye. Dark circles caused from shadowing are often improved with this treatment as well. It is important to do your research and select an experienced injector for your treatment. Your injector will help select the correct filler and approach to help you achieve your treatment goals.

Answer: Under Eye Filler Under Eye filler is not always the correct answer for everyone. Darkness, if created by pigmentation, should be treated topically first. Additional treatment with filler should be done only in small increments, 0.5 mls of filler TOTAL (split between the two under eye areas) could be enough for you. If more is used, then you could get the bulky look and with expression you could see a ridge or indentation between the filled and unfilled areas. I would suggest using a topical product that contains Hydroquinone to decrease under eye "dark circles" if they are related to pigment change. And when getting filler, only a small volume should be added and gently massaged into the area to create a more uniform augmentation without the bulk. I like RHA products under the eye, as they tend to be more forgiving and less bulky. Restalyne makes several Hyaluronic Acid fillers and some are thinner than others. When returning for filler, tell your provider about your past experience and that should help you find the correct hyaluronic acid filler for you.
