Botox for strong mentalis muscle?

I have been told by a practioner that I have a strong mentallis muscle, which is what creates my prominent cleft chin and deep mental crease. I have had derma filler in my chin and mental crease, which has lessened the appearance of these things slightly but I feel my chin now has more of a square appearance, rather than giving me the elegant heart shape face I desire. Would having Botox to relax the mentallis muscle and then having filler help with this? Is that a safe procedure?

Yes, you can absolutely get neurotox treatment for your mentalis muscle! It is a safe procedure but make sure that you are told the risks, like if the dose is too high or injected in not quite the right location, it may affect your speech/ability to eat.

Some simple treatment principles are in order here. Botox works well for diminishing static (at rest) muscular tension, as well as diminishing muscular over-activity of the muscles of facial expression. Fillers, on the other hand, are for elevating & smoothing the static wrinkles and folds, which have typically developed as a result of underlying muscular over-activity or increased static muscular tension  So, the general, the logical order of treatment would be to first address with Botox the underlying muscular contribution and then afterwards treat the residual static folds and creases with filler that had resulted from the underlying muscular contribution.  You would be wise to consult with an experienced, board certified cosmetic dermatologist injector. Best of luck.

Thank you for your question.Your injector should have suggested botox as a first line of treatment for strong mentalis muscle. You may also need to inject neck botox to release the strain on your lower face.It's a tricky injection and should be done by well trained and qualified provider, but it is as safe as any other botox in the face or body. Using botox first, can even lessen the need for more filler amount and change the shape of your chin to a more feminine shape you desire. If you inject filler in a tense muscle, it will spread around the muscle and maybe that is a reason for your chin appearing square.

Yes, Botox can definitely help sculpt the chin, if Mentalis is the issue. It is a safe procedure when done by an experienced doctor. I don't see any photos, so I don't know if mentalis is what is causing the problem in your case. Regarding Botox or neurotoxin treatment to the chin area, treating the mentalis muscle is best for softening chin dimpling in animation. An overactive mentalis or mentalis strain is usually associated with oral incompetence or inability to close the mouth but can lead to deepening of chin crease.
Filler can also be used to soften a prominent crease or provide more projection to the chin (without surgery) to improve facial aesthetics, but one of the more common problems I encounter after jawline or chin filler injection is poor placement or over treatment which can often result in a more masculine squared off shape to chin. Often the best solution for this is to dissolve the filler you have and then re-inject with more centralized/targeted filler injection to address your concerns.
