Hi Cool809585,Since there’s limited information in your question, I’m going to make some assumptions. I’m assuming you’re heterozygous Factor V meaning you only have one allele of the gene. People with homozygous factor V have two alleles and typically present early in life with a clot and are on blood thinners for life, because their risk of future clots is extremely high. Factor V is the most common inherited hypercoagulable condition. Most people don’t know they have it unless they’ve had a clot or a family member with a clot. Therefore, a lot of people have it and don’t even know it. I’m sure we Botox numerous patients with heterozygous factor V that are completely unaware of their condition. If you have had a clot and are on blood thinners, then your risk of bruising from Botox would be increased. I would discuss it with your PCP prior to having any procedures but generally I would say it is safe and haven’t read anything or experienced anything otherwise. I hope this helps. Good luck!
As you know, Factor V Leiden is an inherited condition that can increase your risk of getting clots. As Botox does not interfere with blood clotting, it is safe for you to have Botox. There is absolutely no contraindication for you to get Botox.
Botox should be fine to use in patients with lower likelihood of bleeding such as in Factor 5 Leiden. There are cases when botulinum toxin should not be used. These cases include patients with an allergy to the product and patients with neuromuscular disorders such as Myasthenia Gravis.
Many patients enhance the benefits from their ptosis surgery by adding Botox treatments. Your surgeon is the best one to advise you on when you can begin this treatment as she/he is most familiar with how you've been progressing through recovery. Typically after a few months you can resume Botox.
I'm sorry you are unhappy with your Botox treatment. The effects of Botox are not permanent and you should gradually return to your previous look. On average Botox lasts three to four months but this can vary by patient. There is no reversal agent for Botox.
