You're right to be careful! Is the "lady" you see a physician? IPL's can burn the skin, and, scars in this area could be bad. We use (and, I think most physicians use) PDL (Pulsed Dye Lasers) for Port Wine Stain. I hope that helps :)

Port wine stains can be treated successfully with IPL but it depends on the depth of the lesion. Those that are more superficial can be treated with IPL while those that are deeper require more aggressive treatments. Higher energy levels like those that can be achieved with the Argon or Hexascan lasers may be needed. You might consider a second opinion with someone more versed in port wine stains. Best of luck!
