How can IPL help me remove coarse red marks from acne scars? (Photos)

Question

I have had 1 IPL-treatment to fix a big area with red marks from acne (dermapen fixed the scars) in my forehead, and I hate that big red mark consisting of many small red marks.My dermatologist didn´t know how to treat it, she tried to treat it like blown blood vessels but she also think it can be pigmentation, but I know it is red marks after acne scars. Can you please help me, how can I get these red marks treated with IPL so they disappears? I hate looking at myself because of this.See photos

Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started.

Thank you for your question.  IPL will help diminish the red vessels and then once you get rid of the redness then you can do a microdermabrasion or skinpen to help with the scarring. I would consult with your physician before having a procedure.  Best wishes!

If your primary concern is treating the red pigmentation, IPL should give you very positive results. Generally a series of treatments is needed, so don't worry too much if a single session didn't meet your goals. Be sure to visit a board-certified dermatologist who's extremely familiar with laser treatments and IPL as well as acne and acne scarring in order to achieve the best outcome.
