Laser treatment prior to starting Accutane

Question

Is it safe to start accutane after having BBL hair removal treatment? If so is there a recommended time to wait between laser treatment and starting accutane?

The common view that Accutane increases the risk of problems from laser treatments is bogus and has not been clearly established. If IPL (including BBL) is performed in a safe manner, being on or off Accutane does not make any difference in my opinion.

In general, we recommend waiting a minimum of six months to do any lasers, peels or dermabrasion after finishing Accutane (isotretinoin). This is because Accutane decreases the amount of oil on the skin so there could be a higher risk for complications. With regard to the treatment you already had, it is okay to start the Accutane at anytime.

6 month is industry standard to wait after accutane treatment before you do laser and IPL. due to possible side effects of hyperpigmentation and skin not healing well after laser treatments.
