Can I get a diastasis repair during the C section? I have a 2 finger gap post 8 years of delivery.

I am 5’8 tall and 35 years old. I still have two finger gap post 8 years of my delivery. I wish to plan a second child but scared that it would worsen my diastesis recti. Is it possible to get a repair done during the c section? I do not wish to go under the knife thrice. Pl advise.

diastasis recti repair and c section are two separate procedures and they are usually not combined. You can get diastasis recti repair once you are fully recovered from pregnancy and c section. Most would recommend you to wait at least 6 months.

Thank you for your question. For multiple reasons, it's not advised to do a DR repair during a C-section. One reason being the risk of infection. My advise is to have the repair after done having children. Ideally, waiting 6 months+ after your last pregnancy. Hope this helps!

Diastasis repair is best done separately from your c-section.  Ideally you want to have this done at least 6 months after delivery of your last child.  Although it sounds appealing to have everything done at once, it isn't recommended.
