Why did my diastasis recti' repair not hold up? Will it happen again after the 2nd repair? (photos)

It is not very common for a properly repaired diastasis to come undone. When it happens it is usually early in the post-operative period from increased intra-abdominal pressure (such as coughing or vomiting). Sometimes, patients will mistake a recurrence of the diastasis for visceral fat (fat underneath the muscle).

that's not really a residual diastasis deformity you have. Pretty normal looking contour of the abdominal wall to me. I think what you're perceiving is just the fatty thickness of the flaps

A short answer to this complex issue and question. First things first, we don't know if your doctor used absorbable sutures or permanent sutures. If they used absorbable sutures that could cause the the Diastasis recti repair to undo. Plus, you had two laparoscopic surgeries after your tummy tuck. When performing laparoscopic procedures they inflate your abdomen with CO2 to create exposure. This could have stretched your abdomen hence stretching your diastasis recti.
