I have a midline abdominal wall separation since the birth of my third child. Although I’ve worked on reducing the appearance by strengthening my abdominal wall, it still bothers me and I would like to have it fixed. I’m wondering if it’s severe enough that it would be useful to have it closed or if I’m just being silly being bothered by it.

Hello Destin2013, Thank you for posting your question. All concerns are valid and should be addressed; however, it is essential to have an in-person evaluation so that a Board Certified Surgeon who specializes in these procedures can give a correct assessment.
I agree with your surgeon. PDO sutures can take 9 months to dissolve fully. Give surgery a year for those sites. Masssging during that time may help. In terms of removal if needed, that's not an easy surgery and likely the benefits to not outweigh the risks.
Insurance companies consider a diastasis recti to be a cosmetic deformity. As such, I am not aware of a single insurance company that will cover repair.
