Can I Take Vitamin E Before Bbl Surgery? If Not, How Long Should I Wait to Take Again After Surgery?

Patients should avoid vitamin E about 10 days before surgery and 10 days after surgery as it can cause excess bruising and bleeding. This goes for Brazilian buttock lift as well as any elective surgery. Please consult your surgeon for more information before having your procedure.

   Vitamin E should be stopped for 2 weeks before and for 2 weeks after the surgery due to presumed increased bleeding risk.

I recommend avoiding vit E for 10 days before surgery. It can increase your risk of bleeding complications. In my office, we give our BBL patients a list of all the medicines that they should and should not take before and after surgery. Your surgeon should provide soemthing similar. If not, ask.

Its very important to check with your doctor how to take care before surgery, there are several vitamins and foods you need to avoid before surgery, any Board Certified Plastic Surgeon will be able to let you know, so talk to your Doctor, he will be able to advise you.

Every surgeon is different.  I always recommend stopping Vitamin E supplements 2 weeks before surgery to reduce your risk of bleeding/bruising.  I allow patients to continue a multivitamin if it has a small amount of Vitamin E in it.
