Vitamin B6 Ok Before Surgery?

Thank you for the question but I do not think you have anything to worry about when it comes to the vitamin B6 and your upcoming surgery.  The majority of medications your plastic surgeon will want you to avoid are medications that can prolong clotting time, such as aspirin, Motrin etc.

Vitamin B6 is not known to increase risk for bleeding. However, please ask your surgeon for their advice.

Please do not worry. It is safe to take Vitamin B before surgery; there is no correlation between vitamin B and increase in bleeding during the procedure. We ask our patients not to take aspirin and products containing aspirin typically 2 weeks before the procedure. There is a list of supplements to avoid like fish oil, ginseng, Vitamin E, garlic, ginkgo biloba, Echinacea, cayenne and many more. Use of these natural products may not be desirable around the time of surgery.
