27 years old and mood stabilizers and antipsychotics have prematurely aged my skin. I have dark spot, fine lines, enlarged pores, dryness and visible acne scarring on chin (was not visible before) after only a few months of using these meds

Hello !

I’m sorry for your experience. It looks like you could benefit from an endoscopic mid-face lift/lower YSMAS facelift. It is possible to have it at a young age under certain conditions (here is the link to photos of a patient who was in her early 30’ when she underwent the procedure).

Of course, an “in person” exam is necessary to assess the flexibility of your skin.

Thank you for your question and photos. While you don’t appear to need surgery at this time, you may benefit from a skin rejuvenation treatment and facial contouring using dermal fillers or autologous fat transfer. You may also see good results with a combination of radiofrequency energy and microneedling to boost collagen production and refresh the skin on a cellular level. RF microneedling is ideal for addressing uneven pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, scarring, acne, enlarged pores, uneven texture, and mild skin laxity.

A bit of well-placed filler or fat taken from another area of the body could enhance facial contours as well. You could add some fullness and definition to the midface, which would provide some subtle lift to your face as well.

I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon. They will be able to review your medical history, discuss your concerns with you, and help you decide on the best treatment option.

Hello! Thank you for your question. I really don't think a facelift is in your best interests at 27yrs old. If you ask enough surgeons, one might eventually agree to do it for you, but I suspect you wouldn't be happy with the results which are unlikely to achieve what you're hoping for. You would be adding quite a lot of scarring, sizeable surgery with risks and costs at a still tender age. It's difficult to say exactly why you may be experiencing these changes to your face. Sometimes it is just the position that your muscles of facial expression exert into the skin and these can become more obvious. Sometimes judicious use of HA fillers can be used to help camouflage some of these changes, but you also need to be very careful about over use of fillers so need to seek the advice of someone who specialises in using these to achieve results that are as natural as possible. It's difficult to see your acne scarring on these photographs, but if you do have significant scarring laser resurfacing is often good for these. Again though, it's not without risks so definitely worth doing your research thoroughly and seeking the advice of someone who specialises in this. Good luck with it all anyway and definitely avoid surgery for now! Take care, Russell.

The best option for you, at this stage, will be to have fillers or autologous fat injections  which should give you a lot of improvement. Good morning, when looking at your photos it shows a slight loss of volume and also because it is white it causes damage to the skin. The best suggestion is not surgical, it would be a medical treatment with photodynamic therapy which would remove pigmentation, improve acne sequelae and produce elastin and collagen and the appearance of youth would return.
