Is this bruising Tyndall Effect 2 weeks post-op? (Photos)

Question

I got filler in my nasolabial folds two weeks ago, one side got so swollen and bruised, the bruise changed from blue to yellow & subsided greatly. But now I’m still left with this slight blue color on the same side! Is this the Tyndall effect or is there any chance the bruise is still blue at 2 weeks post injection? I really don’t want to go back to the same injector to dissolve because even though he’s a surgeon I truly don’t trust his skills anymore.

There is a chance it hasn't fully healed yet! I would recommend giving it up to another week to heal. At which point, I would recommend seeing a board certified cosmetic dermatologist or facial plastic surgeon to review your options. Best, Dr. Emer.

The Tyndall effect is a bluish hue to the skin after HA injections. Since you experienced bruising over the area of concern, the current bluish discoloration will likely disappear over the next two weeks. The Tyndall effect may be seen after injecting thin under eye skin, but is not typically seen at the nasolabial fold. Hope this helps. Dr Joseph

The discoloration your experiencing is most likely residual bruising, and it should continue to improve. I have not seen the Tyndall effect occur at the nasolabial fold, but it is possible. My suggestion is that you should be evaluated by an expert nurse injector or physician, so the correct diagnosis can be made. Furthermore, if the product is more superficial than it should be, it can readily dissolved with Hyaluronidase. Most experienced injectors, nurses or doctors, are very willing to see a patient like yourself, and try to help alleviate your anxiety. Best of luck.

Depending on the severity of the bruise, some discoloration may still remain two weeks after an injection. In worst cases, four to six weeks may be required for complete disappearance. All this being said, I believe to perceive a bump on your picture. Although swelling might be causing that bump, product quantity or product placement might require some corrections as well. My best advice is to request a follow-up with your trusted physician to assess the situation in person.
