I went to a eurogyno about a prolapse issue now need a partial hysterectomy and repair of my wall and a sling. She is saying a ten week recovery. I was checking into having a vaginiplasty She said I will be tighter because of the procedures I am having done but is this the same thing? I have been wanting a tummy tuck and have read about others who do this within a couple days. Would this be a possibility? I am very healthy otherwise. Would love to be able to combine the recovery periods.
Answer: Combined procedures Thank you for your question. The short answer is yes. The issues are in the details about what type of procedures are needed to address the issues that you are experiencing. After a through visit and exam the treatment options will be outline and that that point it can be determined if doing the two procedures together or separate is appropriate. John S Mancoll,MD

Answer: Multiple procedures Hello and thank you for your question. The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. I recommend separating the tummy tuck by three months in order to maximize your safety. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: Combined tummy tuck and GYN procedure. Thanks for your question. Procedures can often be combines to benefit the patient from reduced anesthesia time and other issues. An abdominoplasty can be easily combined with any abdominal surgery procedure such as a hysterectomy or hernia repair. You surgeon is the best person to determine if this is a safe and advisable option. In terms of the vaginoplasty, I would defer to your GYN's expertise. A labiaplasty, which is an operation to reduce the size of the labia, can most likely be performed concurrently but would not tighten the vaginal canal. Good luck.
