Hi, what is the hygiene after labiaplasty? Do you have to wash after going to the toilet everytime? I have a nervous bladder, I go to pee quite often (at least every 2 hours) was thinking if this might be not good for the healing process. Maybe I could try lasting more hours in first days after the surgery. Which days are the most important for the wound healing. Thank you!
Answer: Labiaplasty healing Hello there, I recommend my patients use a peri-bottle post-operatively. I suggest they fill it with warm water and squirt the water over the incision lines while urinating. This acts both to cleanse the area and also to help dilute the urine so it does not sting the incision lines. I then suggest patting the area dry gently with a clean, dry face cloth. No toilet paper for at least a week. Hope that helps! Sincerely.Jennifer Adams MD, FRCSC

Answer: No Concerns with Proper Aftercare! No stress here. Frequent urination poses no problem for healing after labia plasty. We give our patients a small spray bottle to use after the bathroom to spray with warm water and pat dry. Urine is sterile and there are really no concerns about it leading to infections of the labiaplasty healing. That area is normally bathed in bacteria and can heal quite well in a bacterial rich environment. We give our patients recovery kits that include everything from maxi pads, ice packs ointment, spray, bottles, and postoperative medication’s as needed, ranging from pain medication to yeast infection medicine to silicone, scar gel. Your doctor and their team should give you every last detail about your labiaplasty healing and if you still have questions afterwords, they are not done educating you. Make sure that you get all the information you need from your surgeon that should be quite clear and quite simple to follow these instructions if they are given in a timely and correct way that is easy to follow.

Answer: NERVOUS BLADDER AND LABIAPLASTY Thank you for your questionUrine is sterile but usually leaves an odor. You can spray water with a peri bottle (like is used after childbirth) and dab dry to not interfere with your sutures.

Answer: What is the hygiene after labiaplasty? Hello, frequent peeing after labiaplasty is not harmful to the stitches. You don't have to wash it every time. The first 24 hours are the most important time for wound healing. All stitches will dissolve on their own within a week.

Answer: Nervous bladder and labiaplasty HI Polite, You do not need to wash every time after using the bathroom for either urination or bowel movements. It may be hard to believe , but this area heals quite well without frequent cleansing. If it makes you more comfortable, you can use a Peri bottle and gently irrigate the area after a bowel movement, but typically, a bacterial infection is quite rare. Some women will get a yeast infection after the surgery, but this is due more to the antibiotics that I give for a few days, rather than due to a bacterial contaminant. Hope this helps a bit, Best, Dr. Christine Rodgers
